Journal of an Optimistic Contrarian

The name of my blog stems from my worldview which is naturally contrarian. I also think too many people are unnecessarily pessimistic about the world we live in, thus the "optimistic" qualification. On this blog you can expect to find random musings on a wide list of topics and my feeble efforts at poetry. I work in the financial industry, and I can also be dubbed as a contrarian investor. And contrary to popular opinion, I am not a contrarian for the sake of being one (Or at least I hope not).

Sailaab-e-ishq

Ranjish nahi dil ko koi sahaara nahi milta
bas sailaab-e-muhabbat ko kinaara nahi milta
chaand sitare falak pe jagmagate har shab
Chaudhviin ke chaand ka nazaara nahi milta

Couplet

Lab pe tera naam aana jigar se intekaam hai
Tujhse bhi azeez mujhe tumhara naam hai

(Honestly this poem I dont remember whether I wrote myself or heard it somewhere)

Hisaab-e-Ishq (the Accounting of Love)

Nafa na ho muhabbat me kabhi nuksaan nahi rehta
Gham-e-ishq ke siwa dil me koi samaan nahi rehta
Dard-e-hijr se guzar gaya jo jo shaksh
Zindagi me phir khauf ka gumaan nahi rehta

There is never loss in Love if there be no gain
Beyond Love's sorrow no sorrows remain
The one who has been parted with his beloved
Life poses no greater challenge to sustain
